Little Andaman Island is the fourth largest island of the Andaman Island group. It covers an area of 734.39 km sq. It is alienated from Rutland Island in Great Andaman by the Duncan Passage. They call the island Egu Belong and has been a tribal reserve since the year1957. According to the census of 2001, the population is 17,528 in 4093 households, living in eighteen villages. The village of Kwate-tu-Kwage is on the east coast of the island and is located on Hut Bay. It has a deep water jetty. You can reach it through a gap in the coral reef.
The inhabitants are the Onge tribe, a few Nicobarese tribes and people from Bangladesh and South India. It is an elongated island. There is a lot you can do, watch and enjoy on Little Andaman Island.

Little Andaman Island is located at distance of about 120 kms by sea from Port Blair and enjoys being near the South Andaman Island.
How to Reach Little Andaman Island:
Boat services connect Port Blair and Hut Bay and are available daily. 6.00 hrs are taken to reach Hut Bay from Port Blair. Helicopter service from Port Blair to Hut Bay is also available.
Attractions at Little Andaman Island:
Little Andaman Island is one of the largest islands in Andaman. It is celebrated for an immaculate beach at the location known as Butler Bay. No wonder, the most famous beach on this island is Butler Bay. It is credited with an eye-catching waterfall called Panchavati. There are more than a few striking and secluded scenic beaches on this Island. In Andaman this is the main vegetable producing Island.
Little Andaman Island is famous for plantation of Red Oil Palm managed by ANIFPDCL. The keen tourists can pay a visit to the cultivated area and a factory for extraction of palm oil. Another celebrated attraction is Netaji Nagar Beach which is located at a distance of 11 kms from the Hut Bay jetty.
You can also enjoying watching elephant training and elephant lumbering within the forests. The low lying island has extensive rainforest and a number of uncommon species of marine turtle. In the sixth decade of past century, the Government of India set off a colonization program centered on forestry. But this was later principally cast off and a court order in the year 2002 confirmed its safety. R.K. Pur Dam is also worth a visit.
Activities at Little Andaman Island:
White Surf Waterfall and Whisper Waterfall give you the chance to gaze at the splendor of their cascade. To this waterfall there is a trekking trail. Also, you have the opportunity to indulge in surfing, snorkeling and basking in sun. There are coconut thatches and beach huts that are open to tourists and small boats are also available at the beach.
Accommodation at Little Andaman Island:
The government lodging is available at Hut Bay in Government Guest House, A.P.W.D. Hut Bay. Room tariff for Indians is Rs.100 for non A/C and Rs.150 for A/C. For foreign tourists tariff is Rs.150 for non A/C and Rs.200 for A/C. V-vet Guest House in the heart of the Hut Bay city is also for tourists. Tariff is subject to change.
Little Andaman island has the word ‘little’ in its name but its natural beauty, grandeur, tourists attractions and fun is vast and enormous. Visit it to believe its charm and charisma.
